Virtual number provider SMS-Activate has announced the closure of its service. The platform officially ceased operations on December 29, bringing to an end a ten-year run. In its statement, the company thanked its customers and described the shutdown as a natural conclusion rather than an abrupt interruption.
Balances, Deadlines, and Technical Details
Users are still able to request refunds for remaining account balances. Withdrawal requests are accepted until January 29, with processing times of up to one month. Refunds are issued in Tether USDT via the TRC-20 (Tron) network, with a minimum withdrawal amount set at $30.
The company notes that withdrawals require two-factor authentication to be enabled and can only be sent to personal wallets. Using exchange wallets for this purpose is described as a high-risk option with potentially irreversible consequences.
Brand Closure and a Controlled Handover
The SMS-Activate brand is being fully discontinued. Any incoming messages bearing the SMS-Activate name after the shutdown are identified as fraudulent and unrelated to the former service. In short, the brand is not taking a mysterious second life.
At the same time, SMS-Activate reports that its technical developments have been transferred to a new team behind the HeroSMS service. According to the company, the successor project plans to build on the accumulated expertise and infrastructure.
