Opera’s developers have decided that downloading a separate app to purchase tourist internet is an unnecessary bureaucratic hurdle. The company has integrated the eSIM feature directly into its mobile browser for Android. Activating a virtual SIM card now happens without the need to register with third-party providers or stand in an airport, frantically trying to catch a Wi-Fi signal to download software. The internet connection covers the entire phone, not just the browser tab, allowing travelers to use their usual apps without facing astronomical roaming markups.
Free Gigabytes Without Hidden Strings
As a lure, Opera is offering 3 GB of free data, valid for three days in selected markets. The main condition is the complete absence of commitments. Users do not need to link a bank card or provide an email address to claim this gift.
Paid plans of 3, 5, and 10 GB, valid for 30 days after activation in the destination country, can be purchased later. The company claims its prices are, on average, 33% lower than those of major competitors, with the service itself powered by Holiday.com’s infrastructure.

Geographic Coverage and the Harsh Reality of Compatibility
The service covers 47 destinations, providing 5G network connectivity where supported by local operators, with an automatic fallback to the next best available network. A single eSIM can be topped up with data for different countries within one trip, eliminating the need to reinstall the profile at every stop.
However, technical limitations remain: the feature is exclusively available in Opera for Android (version 10 and newer) on unlocked devices with hardware eSIM support. At launch, the free 3 GB offer is available in the US, UK, Germany, France, Canada, UAE, Brazil, the Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, and Poland, while paid packages can be purchased from anywhere in the world.
