Pocket numbers: HeroSMS rolls out Android app for virtual SIM rentals

Virtual number provider HeroSMS has launched its own Android app, now available on Google Play. The new release brings temporary phone number rentals straight to mobile devices — cutting out extra steps and keeping the process compact.

The app allows users to rent a number for a short period — from 20 minutes — or longer if needed. Available services are neatly sorted within the interface, while active numbers remain easy to access, at least according to the company.

No SIM card, no questions asked

HeroSMS leans on a simple formula: no physical SIM cards, minimal formalities, and a strong focus on anonymity. Users can obtain temporary numbers for SMS verification and OTP confirmations, with coverage spanning more than 180 countries and a daily pool exceeding 500,000 numbers.

Speed is another selling point. Verification codes are said to arrive within seconds, and if they don’t, the system automatically refunds the balance — a rare case of a service not arguing back.

The company also notes that the platform runs on the same infrastructure as SMS-Activate, which may sound familiar to those already navigating the virtual number space.

Support extends to more than 700 platforms — from messaging apps and social networks to marketplaces and delivery services. Among them are WhatsApp, Telegram, Google, TikTok, Facebook, Instagram, Discord, and Amazon. If a service is missing, there is a fallback option simply labeled “Any other.”

Balance top-ups are handled via cryptocurrency, and frequent users are offered a tiered discount system. For those who prefer automation over repetition, API access is available — useful when one number turns into hundreds or thousands.

In the end, HeroSMS delivers a familiar toolkit, now packaged as a standalone app. What used to live in a browser has been condensed into a few screens — and it seems content to stay there.
